Han Da Eun from South Korea and Yang Yi from China are fourth-year students of the Bachelor’s in Economics run by the HSE University Faculty of Economic Sciences. The pair spoke to the HSE News Service about how they ended up in Russia and HSE University, their experiences of learning Russian, and how they’ve managed to succeed in subjects from mathematics to sociology in this difficult foreign language.

In the run-up to the new admissions campaign, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov met with journalists from leading media outlets to brief them on the upcoming campaign, focusing in particular on the types of support available to applicants and students and on international admissions.

Six HSE MIEM educational programmes have been accredited by the Association for Engineering Education of Russia (AEER). The accredited programmes have been awarded the EUR-ACE® label and the Washington Accord certificate.

What is more, demand for educational programmes and competencies related to Asian and African studies is projected to grow in Russian universities. HSE University has held an Open Day of online bachelor's and master's programmes created by leading HSE scholars, business leaders, and key players in digital industry. Six of the 17 programmes are appearing in the online education market for the first time.

The ‘Data Science and Business Analytics’ bachelor’s programme at HSE Faculty of Computer Science has received professional and public accreditation by the AI Alliance Russia. This is the third programme of the faculty that has received accreditation from the AI Alliance Russia, following the bachelor's programme in  ‘Applied Mathematics and Information Science’ and the master’s programme in ‘Financial Technologies and Data Analysis’.  

Mariam Margaryan, a graduate of the HSE University Economics and Statistics programme, HSE University lecturer, and the Fundraising Director of the Friends Foundation, says that she got into philanthropy by accident. As a student of the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences, she planned to forge a career in a large consulting company. She spoke of her path to NGOs, her favourite social projects and her work at the University in an interview with the HSE University Project-Based Learning Laboratory of Economic Journalism.

In recent years, HSE University has focused on launching double-degree bachelor's and master's programmes jointly with other Russian universities. To date, students have enrolled in seven such programmes, and several more will start in the new academic year. Sergey Roshchin, HSE University Vice Rector, explains how university cooperation works, which fields and regions are a priority for the university, and what prospects graduates will have.
