In the Faculty of Humanities’ new master’s programme, Cultural and Intellectual History: Between East and West, students will study the history, culture, and traditions of Eastern and Western Europe from the Middle Ages to now. The programme, which begins accepting applications in 2017, also offers students the opportunity to receive a diploma from a partner university abroad.

The internet has changed how people approach job hunting and recruitment. Employment websites and social networks are now competing with personal connections as the key channel for offering and finding jobs and have replaced most other channels, according to Sergey Roshchin, Sergei Solntsev and student at the HSE ICEF Dmitry Vasilyev's paper 'The Evolution of Job Hunting and Recruitment in the Internet Age'.

Doctoral schools provide an opportunity for international doctoral students to undertake part of their study or research at HSE. The university offers two types of traineeships – research and study. The study stay involves taking courses from the HSE doctoral schools. The research stay offers the opportunity to work with a particular academic advisor or at an international research laboratory or centre; gain access to international full-text and abstract databases, journals and books; and attend graduate seminars.

HSE and Parallels have agreed to cooperate on IT educational programmes. Parallels will start working with students from the HSE’s Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, and a further agreement on cooperation is to be signed with the university’s Computer Sciences Faculty.

For the last 70 years, it was largely believed that spatial processing disorders, including those seen in language, occurred when the temporal-parietal-occipital (TPO) junction of the brain’s left hemisphere was damaged. But according to researchers from the HSE Neurolinguistics Laboratory, it is the damages to the axonal fibers connected to this area of the brain that are most important.
