Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a fundamental component of many activities in economics and finance in recent years. On April 26,Panos Pardalos, Academic Supervisor at theLaboratory of Algorithms and Technologies for Networks Analysis (LATNA at HSE Nizhny Novgorod) and Distinguished Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida, will talk about its impact, future developments and limitations in his honorary lecture Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Economics and Finance.

A mathematical model of Covid-19 spreading in Nizhny Novgorod Region, which has been created by the Big Data Laboratory at Nizhny Novgorod Development Strategy Project Office, has been widely discussed in the media and on social networks. The research was led by Anastasia Popova, a master’s student of HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod, repeat winner of machine learning competitions, and winner of Ilya Segalovich Award by Yandex. Anna Blyakhman has been appointed Director of HSE Nizhny Novgorod. She will be responsible for the overall administration of the campus.

On November 5, educational partnership between the Master’s programme in Mathematics offered by HSE Nizhny Novgorod and the University of Passau, Germany, was finalized. Upon graduation from the joint programme, students will receive a Master’s degree in Mathematics from HSE and a Master of Science in Computational Mathematics degree from the German university.

From October 9 to October 16, 2018, HSE University together with Rossotrudnichestvo will hold a series of events for teachers of Russian schools in the United States. The events will be held in Washington (DC), Portland (Oregon), and Sacramento (California).

In August 2018, the Faculty of Law at HSE Nizhny Novgorod hosted the annual summer school ‘Russian – Chinese Business: Cultural and Legal Aspects’. This year, the delegation from China was twice as big as last year, and the number of volunteers increased significantly, which clearly shows that summer schools with partner universities gain momentum!
