An ‘International Buddies Club’ Has Been Created at the HSE

Friendship clubs exist worldwide in almost all universities that participate in international exchange programmes. They help new international students adapt to their new country and find friends.

‘Student education and achievement depend on how fast students adapt to their new lifestyle’, commented Ekaterina Khodorova, Deputy Head of the HSE International Students Office. ‘Together with our ‘buddies’, we will be organizing joint events for Russian and international students. This will help our international students overcome stereotypes and easily fit into their new sociocultural environment’.

Tina Zyryanova, the Club’s leader, said that the Russian ‘buddies’ include students who have studied abroad as part of exchange programmes and one Muscovite who loves Moscow and likes showing it to anyone who is interested.

‘Our main principles are hospitality, tolerance, and openness to everything new’, Tina said.
